Explore the regions that define Costa Rica, along with a Roam-Ready Escape designed to inspire your next adventure.

When to Visit

Costa Rica is a year-round destination, but your ideal time to roam depends on the experience you want.

Dry Season (December–April):  Sunny skies, ideal beach weather, and optimal conditions for exploring volcanoes, rainforests, and national parks. This is the most popular season for first-time travelers.

Green Season (May–November):  Expect warm days, tropical showers, and lush scenery. Early green season (May–July) is especially beautiful with fewer crowds and excellent wildlife viewing. September and October bring heavier rain on the Pacific side but excellent conditions in the Caribbean region.

Whatever season calls to you, we’ll help you plan the best experience based on your travel goals, pace, and preferred regions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Costa Rica really have 12 hours of daylight year-round?

Yes. Because Costa Rica is close to the equator, sunrise and sunset stay fairly consistent—typically 5:30–6:00 a.m. and 5:30–6:00 p.m. Plan excursions early, as nights get dark fast.

Can I flush toilet paper in Costa Rica?

Plumbing infrastructure can be sensitive in many regions, so travelers will often find signs requesting that toilet paper be disposed of in a waste bin.

How common is wildlife around hotels and resorts?

Very. Iguanas, monkeys, tropical birds, and even sloths often wander near eco-lodges and hotel grounds. It’s part of the pura vida charm!  Just admire from a respectful distance.
